Information we collect
When you submit our Contact, Volunteer, Partner, or Newsletter forms we collect the information you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, optional phone number, and message. When you visit the site, we and our infrastructure providers may automatically log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you visit. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
How we use your information
We use your information to (i) respond to your messages and connect you with programs, (ii) send program updates and newsletters you opt into, (iii) coordinate event registrations and volunteer onboarding, (iv) maintain the security and reliability of our website, and (v) report aggregate impact to our partners and supporters. We do not sell your personal information.
How we share information
We share information only with (a) trusted service providers who help us operate the site and send emails (e.g., our hosting platform, email-delivery vendor, and analytics tools), (b) program partner organizations when needed to register your child for a DiscoverWorks™ location, and (c) authorities when required by law. Any third-party processors handle data on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep the site working (e.g., to remember your admin session if you are a Foundation administrator). We may also use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages and programs resonate most with the community. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the admin tools may not function without them.
Donations and payments
Donations are processed by third-party payment platforms (such as Cash App and Zelle) using QR codes displayed on our site. We never see or store your card or bank credentials — those are handled entirely by the payment platform per their own privacy policies.
How we protect your information
We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access-controlled storage. While no online service is 100% secure, we work hard to safeguard the information you share with us and limit internal access to a small group of authorized administrators.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing info@semajmorgan.org. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Children's privacy
Our DiscoverWorks™ program serves children, and parents/guardians provide registration information directly through our partner location sign-up forms. We use that information only to administer the program, communicate with families, and coordinate with our location partners. We do not sell or share children's information for marketing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes to our programs, services, or legal requirements. The 'Last updated' date above will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
